Special Olympics - 2011

Special Olympics week in Newton County kicked off with a parade through Covington, and our opening ceremonies.
This banner was created by our wonderful Special Education Department at Palmer-Stone Elementary. Thanks to Laure, Mayra, Sherry, and Sandy for heading up the project!

Ms. Sandy let us use her trailer, and the banner was displayed on it.

It's fun to ride in a parade!

Our banner won 1st place!

We all got temporary tattoos! Cole is getting his done by a gracious volunteer.

Victory for Tyrell!

The awards ceremony was held at Turner Lake Park. Sallicia is showing her door prize ticket. We hoped to win a prize!

Omari doesn't mind waiting ... for a little while!

Brittney and Tyrell

Tyler waited VERY nicely!

Cole won a prize!

So did Savannah!

Time for trophies! Daphne Cofer helps each athlete accept their award. Sallicia likes her trophy!

Brittney won a prize, too!

It's difficult to wait!

And it makes Adam tired. The teacher makes a good rest spot.

We were all tired after a long week of Special Olympics, but we had a great time! Thanks to all our volunteers and helpers!
